Adjusting Your List
Most single people have a list of the qualities that they are looking for in a partner. Some have it written down and others have it in their minds. If you do not have it written down, it is a good exercise to do. I used to place my list by my bed and read it each night before I went to sleep. Then I listened to my "Attract the Love of Your Life" CD and visualized him coming into my life.
A new twist for the list exercise is separating the must-have’s with the nice-to-have’s when it comes to your future mate’s qualifications. This extra look into what I really wanted helped me see that some of the things that were nice-to-have were superficial, while the must-have’s had to do with the personality traits and life philosophy of my true partner. Believe it or not, this list came in handy when I started dating like crazy after going through my hypnotherapy training. I became a man-magnet and the list helped keep me on track to what I really wanted. Good looks and fancy cars only go so far.
Turns out, my man is almost everything on my list — except for enjoying watching sports. I decided that cheering for the Yankees alone while he read books on spirituality is not such a bad trade off. Like placing an order at a restaurant, they usually bring you exactly what you request.
